Walt Disney Television Analyst, Global Distribution Strategy and Business Development in New York, New York

Operate as key member of the Disney and ESPN distribution strategy team that supports the U.S. Affiliate Sales & Marketing (ASM) organization and provides industry analysis, long-term strategic planning, new product evaluation and decision support related to MVPD carriage negotiations and direct-to-consumer (DTC) content distribution with existing players and new entrants. The scope of this highly visible role encompasses the entire portfolio of broadcast and cable networks (ABC, Disney kids networks, Freeform, FX, National Geographic, ESPN, etc). The role requires superior strategic thinking, quantitative and qualitative problem solving and research, and financial analysis skills. The individual must possess the ability to interface effectively with multiple teams throughout Walt Disney Television, ESPN, and other areas of The Walt Disney Company. The position is based in New York City, NY and reports into the Manager, Global Distribution Strategy and Business Development.

This role is part of the broader Global Distribution Strategy (GDS) team that provides objective business decision support to evaluate new business opportunities, the impact on existing businesses and other key initiatives across several additional areas of distribution including direct-to-consumer (DTC), social media, international distribution, program sales/syndication and managing the Hulu relationship. The GDS team also works collaboratively across the distribution businesses to develop the organization-wide, long-range strategic plan.

Responsibilities :

  • Support the development and execution of Disney / ESPN Media Networks’ (comprising of Walt Disney Television and ESPN) growth and profitability strategy

  • Perform research, financial modeling, and analysis to inform key business decisions

  • Crystalize key insights from data, and communicate complex analyses in an efficient and effective manner to a variety of internal audiences, including Affiliate Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Research, Finance, and Disney and ESPN executives

  • Assist in the forecasting of traditional and new media subscriber growth and technology adoption by researching and developing informed assumptions, including conducting regressions, and take responsibility for leading that process over time

  • Track current media industry and technology trends/news and develop points of view on potential business impacts to be shared throughout the company

  • Manage 3rd party research relationships for the team and work extensively in internal and external research databases

  • Maintain updated files of company SEC filings, quarterly earnings calls, and analyst reports

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 2 years related working experience – such as strategy / consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, start-up company or related experience

  • Strong will to constantly learn

  • Detail-oriented in both a qualitative and quantitative manner

  • Enjoy collaboration and working on a team

  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion

  • Excel at communicating complex ideas in a simple manner

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Experienced in PowerPoint and Excel (including financial modeling/forecasting)

  • Experience presenting to a variety of audiences, including Sr. Executives

  • The role requires some travel between Connecticut, NYC, and LA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity/experience with traditional and digital media businesses, both domestically and abroad

  • High-level proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
